About The Derévo Collection

With hand-painted art at affordable prices, The Derévo Collection debuted in 1999 with limited editions and retail prices in the $20 to $300 range. This collection protects the integrity of G. DeBrekht quality and offers the same freehand excellence as The Masterpiece Collection.

The Derévo Collection includes various annual series, including: Guardian Angels, Magic Sleigh, Whimsical Snowmen, Little Santa, Sleigh Ride, Nutcracker Ornaments, Fairytale Village, House of Romanoff Collection, Mushroom Men and Musical Figurines. These series continue with new designs each year, offering innovative art based on old Eastern European traditions.

Using a very special wood-based resin material, each piece is hand-poured and will resemble the hand-carved original so closely that even the woodcarver cannot tell the pieces apart. A small corps of artists in other countries—each trained in the Russian techniques of decoration and story painting—meticulously hand paints each piece to the exact likeness of the original. Amazingly, each artist paints free-hand without guidelines. The painting is usually added in three to nine layers, one on the top another. Using rich color pigments and palettes that duplicate the ones used in Russian art villages, these gifted artists create the magnificent scenes and decorations. Even with small limits of 600 to 1,500, it still takes two to three years to complete each edition of these works of art. Because of their low limitation, these pieces retire from production quickly.
